Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Typically, clients consulting our services are experiencing problems such as speech difficulties, snoring, mouth breathing habits, mild sleep apnea, thumb/digit sucking, nail biting, tongue tie/lip tie, picky eating, hair pulling/chewing, orthodontic relapse, crowding, cross bite, open bite, grinding and malocclusion.

  • The process always begins with a 90-minute comprehensive Initial Assessment. Your appointment includes diagnostic measurements, intra and extra oral photographs and a full-body posture analysis. The assessment is mandatory and ensures that we know where you begin and how far you’ll need to go. A copy of this initial assessment will be shared with both your dental care provider and medical care provider.
  • Therapy instructions begin during your first visit. Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a very “active” treatment and you’ll be expected to commit to the exercises daily for a minimum of 8 weeks. We ask that you sign a contract expressing your commitment to your therapy. Each week, we will reserve a 45 to 60-minute appointment to take new measurements, check in on your progress, and prescribe you a new set of exercises. We expect you to have your exercise compliance chart (or complete an online journal) and provided props/tools for each visit. Week 5 & week 9, your appointment will be 60min and include updated photographs. At the final appt (week 9) a maintenance plan will be developed. A follow up phone call will occur at 3 & 6 months after completion to check in and ensure things are still going well.
  • We work with many different health practitioners and often make referrals for tonsil/adenoid concerns, tongue/lip tie release, and allergy testing to name a few. These referrals are imperative for your progress. I will do my best to find providers who understand orofacial myofunctional therapy who also take your insurance.
  • After your exercise program is finished, we will complete another comprehensive assessment. Sometimes, patients need further work, depending on the severity of the case AND on compliance.

What does a course of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) cost?

All visits are done in the comfort of your home, and all supplies will be provided by Sandra Jean Taylor BS, IBCLC, CSOM of Untethered NM.

Visits may be paid for individually or the entire package may be booked at once. If multiple family members are being seen together a 50% discount will be given for each additional family member (visits must be scheduled back to back, each additional family member will add 15min to the appt time). All visits will be submitted to insurance on your behalf, though there is no guarantee of coverage or reimbursement. Payments may be made via HSA/FSA accounts, credit/debit card, or check.

OMT Packages may be split in to 2 equal payments due Week 1 & Week 5 (credit to be kept on file). Other arrangements may be made on a case by case basis and a credit card will be kept on file.

If additional Orofacial Myology visits are needed, they are billed at $75 per session. A follow-up phone call at 3 & 6 months post therapy is included and I am available by email at any time after the 8 week course of therapy.
